With so many incredible books to choose from it is hard to list only 5, but these are the ones that I have recently found myself recommending to clients, friends and loved ones. Each of them are powerful, well researched and offer practical advice leaving you feeling empowered to take action. Whatever your health journey looks like, I have no doubt that these books will offer inspiration and plenty of light bulb moments.
This is the one book I would recommend to anyone looking to live a long, happy, healthy life. The Rain Barrel Effect explains exactly how we get sick, put on weight, and begin to breakdown over time, as well as how to reverse that process and take back control of your life! There is nothing gimmicky or fad-like as this book is based on ancient principles of detoxification that still stand today. It’s an easy read, and the foundational principles outlined in this book will up-level your health beyond expectation.
Based on the latest science this book offers powerful information for anyone living with a smartphone, TV or computer (everyone!). It identifies why we are feeling more lonely, anxious, depressed, ill-ness prone and overweight than ever before. Complete with a 10-day program to take inspired action and over 40-recipes, this book will leave you feeling empowered to reclaim your health and cultivate a more purposeful and fulfilling life.
It is hard to say which of Dr Libby’s life-changing books is the best as they are all fantastic! She is such a wealth of knowledge and is highly regarded all around the world for being able to breakdown complex topics and make them easy to understand and enjoyable to read. Women’s Wellness Wisdom is like a health bible that I refer to regularly. If you are confused about what to eat, are dealing with crippling stress, are experiencing skin issues, lack the energy you desire, are gaining weight despite your efforts to lose it or have hormones that are out of whack, then check out Dr Libby’s work.
Melissa is such an inspiration for anyone wanting to be “wildly wealthy, fabulously healthy and bursting with love.” The title references our Mean Girl, which is the voice inside our head that tells us we are not enough. Not smart enough, pretty enough or skinny enough. If you struggle with negative self-talk, limiting beliefs or are living in the shadows then this book will help you find your natural confidence and learn to love yourself. Melissa’s second book, Open Wide is also a must-read for anyone looking to deepen their relationships and improve their sex life. (The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman is another game-changing relationship book that has forever deepened the relationship I have with myself and others.)
This is a captivating and inspiring memoir where you are taken on a journey through Anita’s life. Her story isn’t a familiar one. She struggled with aggressive, life-threatening cancer which led her to a near-death experience that ultimately becomes her rebirth. It almost seems unbelievable at times but awakened my spirit and encouraged me to see life, fear, love and purpose in different ways. It offers a nice reminder that our body has an innate ability to heal itself. (Mind Over Medicine by Lissa Rankin is another standout book that illuminates the power of our mind and would be a great read for anyone dealing with a difficult diagnosis.)
So there you have it, 5 life-changing books. But, I can’t help but sneak in one more as I am currently reading Fiber Fueled by award-winning gastroenterologist, Will Bulsiewicz. It is too early to review, but I cannot seem to put it down. There is no doubt that the key to good health lies in the gut, so this is an illuminating book for anyone wanting to harness the benefits of a well-balanced microbiome (especially if you suffer from any kind of digestive issues or discomfort.)
